Are the good guys turning bad?

Ahoy mates.

I want to discuss a matter that should have been in a flagforum, but we don’t have one, so let us start in the crew. blah
Let us start with a little tale: For a couple of years ago there were a little flag that suffered to survive. They managed to get it back on track, and became powerful - too powerful, with the consequence, that it became less interesting for others to be in the Viridian Ocean – with their possession of 6-7 islands they controlled the ocean.
A group of other flags made an alliance against them, and began the battle “The Alliance” against “The Evil Empire” 2gun
Today the situation is, that the empire has lost all their islands, and their allies have disappeared.
But especially one of the flags in the alliance have now become powerful with possession of 5 islands… Will they become a new threat against the ocean? suspicious

Is it time to rethink our alliances?

What do you think?
question

I thought there were no need to mention names: Remember, who were the two flags that were batling in the cades last saturday?
Yes, we are currently related to "The Alliance" between primarily Riddlemakers, Post Mortem and Sea Change, 2 are allies, and the third is trying to be allied with us. peace
The flag that is growing more and more powerful is Riddlemakers. They now control 5 Islands (Terra, Prolix Purlieu, Kirin, Moab and Jubilee; that's 3 big a medium and a small island) I have no problems with them today, but I fear a situation where they begin to use their de facto power to control politics and economy in the Viridian.

Thats why I started this thread about flag politics. We have to be aware of the possibilities and dangers.

P.S. "The Evil Empire" was the Vanguard coalition.
And no, it is not personal, i have friends on both sides. wave

For all I know, Riddlemakers was never a threat to the ocean. (This is a good discussion, btw.) Before, they also controlled Jubilee, Terra, Kirin etc etc but the islands I've mentioned are just fine.

Riddlemakers isn't like Vanguard who raises the island taxes oh-so-high so I really wouldn't mind even if Riddlemakers control most of the islands in Viridian. happy

This topic has also been in my mind, this past month. I was there when VG ruled, where also Wolfmedic (who taught me a lot, of the politics of PP) tried to start the Tri-Force, to overrun the monopoly that Viridian possessed. I have often wondered if we, infact, wanted to be in the alliance ring, with Riddlemakers, etc. The only 2 flags, that I feel loyal to is Sea Change and United We Stand, for the mere fact that I have been in their flags, with 2 of my older crews, and have met some really good pirates within. With the losses UWS faced, last week and now this weekend, their casulties have been high and costly. It's a shame, but is it for the best of Viridian and/or any flags inside her?? A new, and respected threat is Insanely Incooperative, who has brought an uprawr to the monopoly. At first I thought it was a good thing, but then I did my research and noticed a group of salty sailors (a navy way of calling someone experienced). I have nothing against them, and infact I was heartied with a few of them, and even joined with Wooden in his last flag, as titled. For whatever reasons, he took me off his list, but that only makes me question why, as we were a good team, working SMH's and unbeatable pillies together. They don't seem like a threat, at the moment, but for our flags sake, I have my eye on them, as they declared war on us, due to the fact that we were allied with Post Mortem and that ring of allies. Great topic, Rum!!

Blue, do you go to the Puzzle Pirates forums? I have read somewhere that Insanely Incooperative will be...gone or something like that? Hence the reason why they also undeclared the war with us. They also gave back Havoc Island to Sisterhood of Wenches. But I dunno. ^^;

I don't go the ypped unless I have something imparticular I'd like to look up... ie. Blockading, which Fear and I, both, read quite a bit about how the fundamentals run and what's good and not so good, how the flags, on the board work, and so on.

About Insanely Incooperative, this past weekend, while XOing, I noticed they had 1 sloop, just sitting in the safezone, watching 2 or 3 rounds go by... so I would be inclined to believe that they are leaving for a bit. What gets me, is the weekend before, they beat UWS for their island... lol
